Friendship Breakfast

The Friendship Breakfast, started in February of 2012, was a vision of our church leaders Scott Budnick and Reverend Jack Jones on creating a space where we could gather in community to navigate the ups and downs of our journeys, together.  It served as the foundation of creating the services that we can give back to the community today.

Each week we serve over 300 Sunday meals in our Fellowship Hall. Many of our friends who come through the doors are affected by our current housing crisis, many face food insecurity each day.  We provide a warm homestyle breakfast, a room filled with music from local musicians, and a space to lift each other up.

The Friendship Breakfast will mean something different to everyone who comes through the doors.  It can be a place to pray for one another, share a meal together, it can be a chance to check in with a friend, cross paths with an old one, or it can be a space that begins a friendship that can last a lifetime.

For so many they have found a place where they can give back to their community through direct service.  Our volunteer staff, consisting of many individuals formerly or currently navigating the obstacles of being unhoused, builds self-empowerment and confidence.

The meal itself is often just a vehicle for building relationships.  The real work is supporting and championing our Sunday friends.  We celebrate birthdays, write resumes, furnish apartments, work in conjunction with social workers and case managers, and believe in the power of friendship to foster positive steps forward each day.  These relationships can help shorten the duration of being unhoused for many.  We are currently open 6 days a week to serve whoever comes to our door.
